Foster Coordinator – Volunteer Position

VRRA needs a Foster Coordinator.  Increasing and maintaining our foster homes is an important way for us to rescue and care for vulnerable rabbits. We are looking for someone who can commit for ideally one year minimum.

This position will require a people-person with excellent communication skills (phone, email and in-person) for speaking with existing foster homes and new foster applicants. Must have some basic computer skills for record keeping.

The Foster Coordinator can do much of the work from their home, but must be able to visit the VRRA shelter (Dunbar area in Vancouver) on a regular basis to meet rabbits, and get an idea of their needs and personalities. Having transportation to move and visit rabbits is a definite asset.

Other duties include:

  • Recruits foster care providers;
  • Schedules the movement of shelter rabbits into and out of foster care;
  • Coordinates veterinary care for bunnies in foster;
  • Maintains regular contact with foster care providers; liaises with the Shelter Director to ensure foster support for behaviour and medical issues;
  • Maintains meticulous records of animal care, status and location using the shelter database software;
  • Provides regular updates to the Shelter Director.

Interested persons should send a letter detailing their background and qualifications to the Shelter Director, Olga Betts, at vrra@vrra.org
