Tiny, Baby Bunny Rescued

On May 27th, 2004, VRRA got a phone call from a volunteer at a Richmond Cat shelter. A tiny, baby rabbit had been found on the Richmond dike and taken to the cat shelter. This kind volunteer called VRRA to find out either, how to best care for the baby or if someone else could care for him. Due to a lucky set of circumstances, VRRA was in contact with a couple who had a nursing mother rabbit. The baby rabbit was delivered to their home. She was accepted by the mom and step siblings and is doing well. This little bunny we now know is girl. Her foster parents have named her "Lucky" because indeed, she is. They are making arrangements to adopt her so she can live with her step-family. This is a true family as the daddy rabbit, now neutered, lives with them too.

Mom bunny, a mini-lop with her 3 babies and adopted baby in May. "Lucky" in July, now about 2 months old. Lucky with her step-mom, Bubble.
